Irene Kennedy, 88, of Walton, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday afternoon, May 16, 2008 following a long illness.

She was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England on January 7, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Wainman.

Mrs. Kennedy married Donald S. Kennedy on Sept. 20, 1944 in England while he was stationed there during WWII. She moved back to the United States with Donald and the family lived in Treadwell, where Donald was from and settled in Walton in 1965.

Irene was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She also enjoyed singing and Ballroom dancing which she had taught to Donald.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Donald S. Kennedy of Walton; two children, Alan Kennedy and his wife, Nora of Frederick, MD and Mary LouKota and her husband, John of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Mrs. Kennedy's request there will be no calling hours.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday morning, October, 27, 2008 at Walton Cemetery
