Irene Woelfel, 82 of Walton, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 13, 2008 in the Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton, NY, after a long illness. .

Irene was born in Bethpage, NY on August 24, 1926 the daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Wiencko) Sokolski. She married Walter H. Woelfel in Bethpage.

Irene was employed for many years as a proofreader for Fairchild Republic.

Irene is survived by her husband, Walter, 2 daughters, Susan (Tom) Schultheiss, Commack; Karla Pierce, Walton; 2 sons, Eugene W. Woelfel, Melville, Chris (Lori) Woelfel, Melville; grandchildren, Julianne, Kristen, Rachel, Roxanne, sister in law, Jeannie Sokolski, 3 nieces and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Ed Sokolski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at St Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, , Melville. Interment will follow in Melville Cemetery, Melville.
