Ivan C Mauer, a long time Sidney Center resident,died Saturday afternoon January 22, 2005 at Countryside Care Center where he had been residing. He was 92.

Ivan Mauer was born March 21, 1912 in Granton,NY to Edward G. and Julia Albright Mauer. On May 6, 1935 he married Madge Leschorn in Halifax, Virginia. She predeceased him on July 3, 1995.

The Mauers owned and operated a dairy farm on Russell Rd, Walton, from 1943 to 1960. Mr Mauer then worked on construction of the Cannonsville reservoir and for the village of Walton for a few years. He retired in 1977 after working about 10 years for the Walton Agway store service department.

Ivan Mauer was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed collecting and restoring antique gasoline engines. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to other antique gas engine enthusiasts.

Ivan Mauer is survived by his daughters: Phyllis Currey, Norwich, NY, Arlene Maye, Old Saybrook, CT and a son, Burr Mauer, Walton. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren. Besides his wife of 60 years, he was predeceased by brothers, Ernest, Irvin, and Kenneth Mauer, and a sister, Betty Jones.

It was Mr Mauer's wish that there be no calling hours, and a private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, with burial in Walton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
