Obituary

Jacob Anthony Smith, age 32, of Albany, formerly of Walton, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 as a result of a diving accident in the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness area in the Town of Ticonderoga.

Jake was born in Walton the son of the former Ruth Hymes and Robert Smith. He was a graduate of Walton Central School. He was employed as a cook and pizzamaker at Mild Wally's, Albany. Jake loved sports, watching the NY Yankees, collecting baseball cards and playing golf. He was known to his family and friends as having a gentle heart.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth (Dennis) DuMond, father, Robert Smith,Little Meadow, PA; 3 brothers, Collin (Jenn) Smith, Shirley, LI; Evan (Meredith) Smith, Schenectady, Cameron Smith of Little Meadow, PA; niece, Madelyn Smith, and several cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday evening, August 10, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 17 Benton Ave., Walton at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, with the Rev. Dennis Murphy, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
