James L. Gray Sr., 69, of Granby, passed away July 6, 2015 with his loving family by his side at Baystate Medical Center. He was born February 3, 1946 in Walton, NY to the late Marshall and Helen (Banks) Gray.
Jim grew up in Walton, NY where he had attended school; he enjoyed drag racing as young man and had won several trophies. He was admired for his; "Mechanical Genius", because of his passion to build everything including; cars, boats, and several different types of motors. Jim loved boating and being with his friends. He was a great cook and baker, and also an avid Tampa Bay Rays, and Buccaneers fan. Jim was a great Joker, and could make anyone laugh, but most of all, he adored his family.
He is survived by a son; James Gray Jr. and his companion, Morgan Jordan of Chicopee, his daughter; Tammy Barsalou and her husband Gregg of Granby, grandchildren; Vincent of Chicopee and Alyson of Granby, his children's mother; Jenean (Higgins) Hartnet of Chicopee, sister; Betty and Paul Keen, of Lebanon, MO, nieces and nephews, Karen and Mark Van Valkenburg of Walton, NY; and David and Marlene Keen, Walton; and several good friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Virginia Kamp.
The family will receive family and friends from 5-7 PM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Drozdal Funeral Home, 120 Damon Rd., Northampton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
