James A. Seward Sr., 62, of Walton passed away early Sunday morning, November 12, 2017 at home.
Jim was born on June 10, 1955 in Walton, the son of the late Adelbert and Esther Crandall. He married the former Sherry Rutherford on September 18, 1976. He was first employed by S. J. Bailey and then later by Binghamton Precast as a welder.
Jim was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and riding motorcycle. He enjoyed playing drums and jamming with the Hulse Brothers, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by Sherry Seward the mother of his children. Children, Brent (Natalie) Cole, Gastonia, NC; Shannon (Jack) Fairchild, Walton, and James (Lisa) Seward Jr., Walton, grandchildren, Marissa Seward, Kinley Fairchild, Jacklyn Fairchild, Cheryl and Kierstyn Jones, Kerenna Jacobs, James Seward, and Christian Seward; Brother Eugene Crandall (Karen Dinada), Hamden; Sisters, Elizabeth (Russell) Mallery Sr, Walton; Diane (Charlie) Fletcher, Walton; Caroline (Robert) Condon, Kingman, AZ; Theresa (John) Stevens, Walton and Jeany (Randy) Hulse, Walton; Jim's special friends, Marlene Tuttle, Conklin; and Jimmy Hulse and his family , Sidney, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, David Crandall and special friend, Dickie Dyson.
A graveside service at Walton Cemetery will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11 AM , with Pastor Don Crossman, officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 297 River St. Service Rd, Oneonta, NY 13820.
