IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James R.
Sherman
October 8, 1945 – December 15, 2017
James Robert Sherman, 72 of Columbus, GA, formerly of Walton, NY passed away Friday morning December 15, 2017 after a long illness with family by his side.
Jim was born October 8, 1945 in Walton, the son of the late Henry and Mary (Fitch) Sherman. He worked on the family farm before and after being drafted to Vietnam. For a short time, he also drove for a construction company and worked at Amphenol. The bulk of his years were spent over the road driving truck, something he truly loved. In addition to truck driving, Jim enjoyed racing (especially Drag Racing), muscle cars, and football. He was an avid Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also cherished spending time with his closest friends Fayne George, Mahlon Beach, and Virginia Sherman. This included his 4-legged friends Bubby and Fia.
He is survived by his loving family: Daughters, Cinnamin (Paul) Stark of Walton, Kandy (Kevin) Hayes of Columbus, GA, and Samantha Sherman (Seth Trowbridge) of Worcester, NY. Sons, James (Tami) Tiffany of Milford, NY and William Danforth of Pownal, VT. Grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Brianna, Danielle, Olivia, Ryan, Kyle, William, and Samantha. Brother, Gary (Penny) Sherman and sister-in-law, Virginia Sherman. Along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary Sherman, brother, William Sherman, and sister, Jean (Rexford) Scofield.
In keeping with Jim's wishes, there will not be a funeral, but a graveside burial with full military honors will take place on Sunday, August 19th at 1pm in Walton Cemetery for those that wish to say a final farewell for now.
