Obituary

Jim Taggart passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020. He was born in Franklin July 2nd, 1944 to John and Anna Taggart.

Jim was raised on a dairy farm on Merrickville Road, Franklin with six siblings, Jack, Kathy, Joe, Jeff, Scott, and Peter. He worked as a chief lineman for NYSEG, retiring after 33 years.

In 1972, Jim married Lindy Miller in Walton. They lived on their farm on Dunk Hill raising dairy replacements and Hereford beef cattle.

He enjoyed sharing the farm with his family; daughter Kendra Wiggans and her children Holt, Kylee, Levi, Kendyll, Korbyn, and Huck. Daughter Kristin "Henri" Scott, her husband Chad and children Lucas and Lexie.

Jim was passionate about rebuilding an old farm, maintaining barns, pastures, hayfields, and especially the woods. The farms woods provided the fuel that completely heated the home and outbuildings for 40 years. They also provided an ample supply of maple syrup. Along with cutting wood, with family and friends Jim enjoyed cutting trails through the woods for skiing, walking, and 4 wheeling for the family and dogs. Trails were named for the grandchildren. Spring fed ponds are used by family and friends for fishing and swimming. Jim kept busy with the maintenance of it ALL. He enjoyed cooking inside or out over wood and in cast iron for 1 to 150 people. He was known to cook a good meal before and after his kids and grandkids sporting events. He was proud of his collection of antique tractors, equipment, and small tools that showed how people could prosper if they kept it simple and practical.

Jim was a long time member of the Club Royale, Free and Accepted Masons, and 4-H leader. He was a Delaware County Fair board member and Beef Superintendent for many years.

Jim is survived by a large family and many friends.
