Obituary

Jane L. Breakey, 82 a life long resident of Walton, passed away Sunday afternoon in the Delaware Valley Hospital, after a short illness.

Jane was born in Walton on March 9, 1926 the daughter of the late Harry and Bertha (McCabe) Lambrecht. She was a graduate of Walton High School class of 1943. On October 14, 1951 she married Osborne W. Breakey. He died in 1968. Jane worked as head of medical records and then moved to the radiology department of Delaware Valley Hospital for many years. She was also the owner of Breakey Liquors for over 40 years.

Jane was a member of the Congregational Church, the Walton Chamber of Commerce, the New York Liquor Dealers Association, and a member of the Class of 1943 reunion committee. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Jane enjoyed reading, taking care of her dogs and cats and doting on her grandchildren.

Jane was by nature very friendly and easygoing. She had many friends who would enjoy stopping in the store, just to chat.

Jane is survived by a daughter, Patricia Breakey, Walton; a son, Walter (Julie) Breakey, Millis, Massachusetts, 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Angel) Hughson, Kyle (Janet) Hughson, Stone Breakey, Lucas Breakey, and Aidan Breakey, sister in law Patricia Lambrecht, several nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved poodle, Bailey. She was predeceased by her son Stephen, and her brother, Richard Lambrecht.

A celebration of Jane's and her son Stephen's lives will be held at Robinson's Auction Barn on West St. on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 2 to 5 PM.
