Obituary

Janith T. Kilpatrick 89, passed way Thursday October 3, 2024 at her home in Walton, NY, after a long illness.

Janith was born in Mundale, NY to William A. Tweedie and Pearl Hadsell Tweedie on December 27, 1934.

She married the love of her life Joseph Kilpatrick on January 24, 1953 in Trout Creek. She and Joe operated a dairy farm on Freer Hollow for their livelihood for 34 years, as the fifth generation of Kilpatricks to live there.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Robinson Auction Service in Walton, NY for 39 years.

Janith enjoyed many hobbies. She was an excellent cook, gardener, seamstress, and had a knack for creative crafting.  Her fortunate children, along with her nieces and nephews, had the pleasure of enjoying her homemade root beer and ice cream for many years.  Christmas mornings always had abundant homemade gifts under the tree.  On the farm she always had a large garden and did a great deal of canning.  She also kept a diary, with volumes covering the 1960s thru early 2000s.

She was an active member of the First Congregational Church for close to 60 years, serving as Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and on many Boards.  For many years, she and her dear friend Fran Robinson, set up the flower displays at Church for Easter and Christmas seasons.  She was a volunteer and Board member of the Delaware County Unit of the American Cancer Society.  She was a 4-H Board Director and was a leader of the Nifty-Nine 4-H club for many years.

Janith is survived by her loving children; Pat (Carole), Tim (Jenny), Nancy MacNeill (Jon), Wendy Klemm-Junkins (Jeff), and Kristy Simonds.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, sisters-in-law Teenie Kilpatrick and Linda Tweedie and her dear friend Fran Robinson.

Janith was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Kilpatrick, her siblings William C. Tweedie, Illa Segar, Uva Scott and her son-in-law Michael Klemm.
