Jean K. Mead, 84, a longtime resident of Walton passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at her daughter, Barbara's home, following a long illness.

Jean was born on July 11, 1929 in Middletown the daughter of the late Charles and Iva (Krom) Kellogg. On June 14, 1952 she married Theodore E. Mead in Middletown. He predeceased her on January 12, 2013. She was a graduate of Lenox Hill School of Nursing.

Jean was a Registered Nurse at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton. She was a very active and faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Officer's Wife Club and a past President of the Episcopal Church Women. In her spare time she enjoyed taking care of her garden, doing crafts, sewing, and spending time at the beach in the water where she felt free. At church functions she was the lady selling knives, fruit and peanut brittle.

Jean will be remembered as the lady who rolled up her sleeves, got to work, made a chore fun, and organized and helped all she could, to make a dinner, luncheon, or any church function memorable and the best it could be.

Jean is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Linda and Bob Renna of Florida; Barbara and Paul White of Walton; Sharon and Ted Magill of Florida; Kathryn Mead of Florida; her grandchildren, Bobby, Alicia, Brian and Meghann, Matthew and Jessica, Megan and Matthew, Ryan and Bri, Dereck, Eric, and Tristann and Joshua, her great grandchildren, Clare, Charles, Avelyn, Henry, James, Elanor, Maverick and Roslyn; her brother in law, Robert Borchers of Seattle; and several nieses, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Edith Borchers.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday morning, December 16, 2013 at 11 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church, 41 Gardiner Place, Walton; with the Rev. Suzanne Cole, officiating. Burial of Jean and Ted will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Middletown, in the spring.
