Jean H. Stern, 92, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Walton, passed away Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016, following a long illness.

Jean was born on May 31, 1923 in Merrickville, the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Cronauer) Hyzer. On January 20, 1946 she married Leo Stern. He died on June 5, 1988.

Jean was a Senior High School Teacher at Walton Central School for many years. Following retirement jean and Leo moved to Venice, Florida. She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, crossword puzzles, and camping on the Lake.

Jean is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Sally and Randy Sanders, grandaughter, Lauren Sanders of Birmingham, MI, sister, Mary Wagner of Liberty, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Warren and James Hyzer.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11AM at Walton Cemetery with Rev. RL Donahue, Officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney funeral Home, Walton.
