Obituary

Jeannine A. Hornbeck, 76 of Trout Creek, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 in York Hospital, York, Pennsylvania.

Jeannine was born in Oxford on May 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Earl M. and Theresa Wittling Hayes. She was a graduate of Sidney High School, class of 1950. On July 15, 1950 she married Lloyd W. Hornbeck of Trout Creek. He died on March 25, 1999.

Jeannine made wedding and birthday cakes while raising her 6 children. She also was the tax collector of the Town of Tompkins, and a helper at BOCES with child care. In 1981 she was the relief clerk at the Trout Creek Post office. On November 21, 1981 she became postmaster. She retired from the USPS on January 3, 1997. Jeannine was involved in many activities and organizations in Trout Creek. She was a member of the Trout Creek Community Church, the Royal Rockers, the Trout Creek Fire Dept. Ladies Auxilary, and the Guntown American Legion Post 1554.

Jeannine enjoyed doing for others. Whatever the work to be done, Jeannine would roll up her sleeves and get it done efficiently and quietly, never complaining. She loved her family dearly, and will be missed by the many family and friends whose lives she touched over the years.

Jeannine is survived by 6 children, Lloyd (Marlene) Hornbeck, Masonville; Dennis (Cindy) Hornbeck, Hopwood, PA; Patricia (Bruce) Gillin, Fairfield, PA; Regina (Raymond) Hetrick, East Millsboro, PA; Michael Hornbeck of Trout Creek; Gary Hornbeck of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Brother And Sister-in-laws, Ralph And Nelia Hayes, Morris And Lillian Hornbeck of Sidney Center, Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Step Grandchildren And Step Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd W. Hornbeck, Sister And Brother-in-law, Elaine And Jud Van Gorden.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Trout Creek Community Church from 10 AM to 12 noon on Saturday, July 12, 2008 where services will be held at noon with the Rev. Kurt Funke, officiating. Burial will follow in Teed Cemetery, Trout Creek.
