Jennie M. Wood, 90 a long time resident of Walton passed away early Wednesday morning, October 22, 2008 at Countryside Care Center, after a short illness.

Jennie was born in the town of Colchester, on May 14, 1918 the daughter of the late Lowell and Gertrude (Spencer) Barnhart. On September 5, 1936 she married Earl Wood Sr. at Equinunk, Pennsylvania. He died on June 1, 1973. Jennie was employed at Mapleleaf of Corbett for many years. She was also a homemaker taking care of her children and grandchildren. Jennie loved BINGO, needlework, cooking and baking. She especially loved making big meals, even if it was for just a few. She attended Riverside Alliance Church, Walton.

Jennie is survived by 7 children, Gertrude Fitch, Joyce (Eben) Fitch, Jean Gardepe, Georgiana (Niles Wilson) McCall, Earl (Ella) Wood Jr., all of Walton, Margaret (Howard) Robinson, Donald (Chris) Wood, both of Unadilla; 42 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Albert "Sonny" (Cindy) McNeil, Walton; sister, Mary Swartwout, Hancock, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 1 daughter, Sherry Smith in 1991, 3 grandchildren, Eben "Butch" Fitch Jr., Joyce Smith, and Irene Baker, 4 brothers, Gus, George, Richard, and Donald Barnhart, and a sister, Jean Buckley.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday evening, October 24, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning at 11 AM at the Riverside Alliance Church, 110 Stockton Ave., Walton with Pastor Stephen Blews, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
