Joan Cady, 64, a long-time Walton resident, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 in the Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton, after a long illness.
Joan was born in Buffalo, NY on June 30, 1942 the daughter of Edgar and the late Carolyn (Byrnes) VanBuren. She was a graduate of Walton High School, 6th in her Class of the year 1959. She served her country in the U. S. Air Force. Joan married Gary L. Cady on March 9, 1965. He predeceased her on November 20, 2005.
She was a Secretary, employed by Broome Developmental, Delaware Regional Center, Walton for the past 12 years. Joan was of the Presbyterian faith. She was an avid reader and read every new title that came out. She did beautiful needlepoint, crewel and embroidery and she collected David Winter cottages.
Joan is survived by her father, Edgar VanBuren, Walton; two sons, Lee Cady and Richard Cady, both of Walton; a grandson, Tyler Cady of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Martin John (Margie) VanBuren of Grand Prarie, Texas, and Michael James VanBuren of Walton; two sisters, Carol Anne (Vitus) Haggenmiller of Vestal and Sandi VanBuren of Royersford, PA; nephews, Joseph Lakin, Steven Cady, David Lakin, Jamison VanBuren, Matthew Haggenmiller and great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Raymond (Lois) Cady and several cousins. Joan was blessed with a "second mother", Jeannette VanBuren, who predeceased her.
Friends and family may call Sunday, May 27, 2007 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Bert More officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
