Joan "Nanny" Caruso, 86, passed away on  August 9, 2025, she was born on October 24, 1938 in Walton, NY.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Elmer and Frances McAdams, her husband Joseph "Joe" Caruso who passed away in 2006, her son, Timothy L. Caruso who died in 2012, her sister "Bonnie" MacDonald and brother "Ronnie" McAdams, and her dog Trixie.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Brittany and Candice Caruso, her brother "Bill" McAdams and her nieces, nephew, and great nieces and great nephews.

Joan waitressed for roughly 30 years until she got sick, starting at Poor Richard's, and retiring from the Annex. She was a Hospital Auxiliary member as well as a Walton Fire Department Auxiliary member (for over 50 years!) whom always loved trying out new recipes for the local bake sales. She was also an active member of the Walton United Presbyterian Church for many years.

One of her greater joys was when her "poochies" Jazmine and Pixie, then Angel, and finally Kiara, Would come for their monthly visit. It became a joke that if Brittany and Beth didn't have her poochies, then they weren't going to be allowed in the house. They never did test that.

Joan also had a love of flowers. She had several flowerbeds and bushes at her home that she maintained her entire life. Even as she got older, she couldn't wait to show off her various flowers as they bloomed, always saying "Aren't they pretty?" She was also very proud of her upkeep at her family's graves. She tirelessly spent many hours planting, weeding, and watering the graves throughout the seasons.

As she got older she would spend many days and nights doing her crossword books while sitting in her recliner to pass the time until family visited. To Joan, her family was the most important thing in life!

Everyone is invited to attend a graveside service at the Walton Cemetery on Mon. August 25th at 11:00am immediately followed by a luncheon at the Walton Fire Department located at 61 West St, Walton, NY 13856.
