Joan M. Nerney (nee Hanley), 72, of Fresh Meadows, NY, passed away on June 17, 2023. She was born on April 29, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Alice and John (Jack) Hanley.

Joan was a loving, brave, intelligent, kind, and an incredibly strong woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Allison Nerney, sister Eileen Smart, brothers Gerard (Jerry) Hanley, Joseph Hanley, Patrick Hanley, and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerard (Jerry) Nerney, mother Alice Hanley, father John (Jack) Hanley, sisters Jackie McBride, Alice Lynch, and brother John (Skipper) Hanley.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 2-6 pm at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 192-15 Northern Blvd. in Flushing, NY 11358.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:30PM at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton with Rev. Edward J. Golding, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton.
