Joanne I. Culligan, 70, of Hamden, passed away on November 8, 2018 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown due to Respiratory Failure.
Joanne was born on January 20, 1948 in the Bronx, daughter of the late George and Elvira (Columbo) Jusino. She married the late John W. Culligan on May 9, 1981. She worked her entire career for the State of New York mostly at Letchworth Village in Rockland County then retired from Broome County DDSO. She also served in the U. S. Army Reserves.
Joanne and John settled in Hamden in the early 1990's and quickly became well known to their neighbors for their generosity and welcomed everyone as family, often feeding them to excess. Joanne mostly enjoyed the Delaware County Fair each year.
She would bake many goodies to be judged and received numerous ribbons for her hard work.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Noel (Jusino) Rainbolt (Mark Bouchard) of Hamden, NY, son, Joseph Jusino of Omaha, NE, and step children, David Culligan (Tracy) of Stanton, NE, Laura Closs (Tom) of Glouster, MA., and John A. Culligan (Tracey Abato) of Newburgh, NY, grandchildren, Jason Rainbolt, Nicole Meyer, Kendra Libbe, Catherine Class, Jennifer Truscott, Ryan Stehlin, Jessica Scott, Ryan Culligan, Samantha Walters, Joel Jusino, Justin Jusino, Dominick Jusino, and Jennifer Jusino, and numerous great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Evira "Dolly" Ferrer and Lenore Rodriguez and many nieces, nephews, and her dearest friend Terry Breault. She is predeceased by her husband and parents as well as her grandson, Tory Jusino and siblings, George "Sonny" Jusino, Delores "Chickie" Rucano and Vincent "Vinny" Jusino.
Per her wishes she will be cremated and the immediate family will hold a private service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
