John J. Andersen 58, formerly of Fishs Eddy, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 in Ithaca following a long illness.

John was born in Walton on June 26, 1951 the son of the late John A. and Gertrude McGill Andersen. He was a graduate of Hancock Central School. He married the former Irene Stalker in 1987. He was employed as a certified electrician, boiler operator and licensed contractor.

John is survived by his loving wife and companion of 22 years, Irene, a son, Eric Andersen, Buffalo; a stepdaughter, Bobbie Leubner, Ithaca; a grandson, Chuck Sprague of Ithaca, brothers, Victor (Christine) Andersen, Walton, Michael (Yvonne) Andersen, Churchville, Maryland; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" (Thomas) Rosengrant, Fishs Eddy; Marianna "Mimi" (Rodney) Murray, Mussel Shoals, Alabama; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to Family Foundation School, 431 Chapel Hill Rd., Hancock, NY 13783.
