July 24, 1935 – June 2, 2011
John Esposito, 75, a longtime resident of Walton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton.
John was born in Dumont, New Jersey on July 24, 1935, the son of the late John and Agatina (Rapicavoli) Esposito. On June 8, 2002 he married Eileen Junge/Giovanniello who survives him at home.
John was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church where he was an Extraordinary Minister and Usher. He was honored to videotape numerous Masses for Father Willis, Father Flannery, and Father Frisoni. He organized the Italian Fest for the church.
John was employed first by Palasades Park, New Jersey as a Police Officer, he then worked for Delaware County Sheriff's Department as a Corrections Officer until he started TJE Productions. He also was the Dog Control Officer for the Town and Village of Walton, and a Code Enforcement Officer for the Village of Walton.
John's filming career had him traveling all through the United States. He received an award for youngest cameraman on the East Coast for special effects when he was 22 years old. He worked on a number of projects with well known celebrities. His credits include work on "Speedway" with Elvis Presley, "A New Leaf" with Walter Matthau and "The Swimmer" with Burt Lancaster, "Lilith" starring Warren Beatty, Jean Seberg, Peter Fonda, Kim Hunter, and Gene Hackman. He filmed Jerry Lewis footage used on the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and worked on a "Batman" episode with Adam West. He was involved in the campaigns of Nelson Rockefeller and George Bush, Sr. He was honored to work with many different dignitaries and considered State Senator John Bonacic, Assemblymen Cliff Crouch and Peter Lopez his friends. He also worked with sports celebrities such as Joe Namath, Tikki and Ronda Barber, Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Joe Torey, Roy Campanella, and Mickey Mantle.
He organized the 50's Revue for 5 years for the Delaware County Sheriff's Department as a fund raiser. He also organized and started the popular Civil War Re-Enactments in Walton.
He felt his greatest accomplishment was getting Public Access TV Channel 23 on solid footing. He enjoyed helping the community whenever video coverage was desired. He was proud to be able to bring High School football to people's homes so parents and grandparents could see the game even if they couldn't be at the game.
He will be greatly missed by the community for all that he did. He will especially be missed by his family and loving wife Eileen who was the love of his life.
John is survived by his wife, Eileen of Walton, his two sons, Michael (Ellie) Brescia of Patchague, New York, and Tim Esposito and his fiancee Cecilia Thompson of Astoria, Oregon, his two sisters, Patty (Walter) Meier of Homosassa, Florida, Mary Tasher of North Palm Beach, Florida, his granddaughters, Christina Brescia and Tonya (John) Tallarico, his great granddaughters, Amber Lynn, Boston Brescia, his great grandson, Nicholas, stepdaughter, Michelle (Corey) Lane and step grandson, Caleb, Franklin, New York, and stepson, Christopher Giovanniello of Warminster, Pennsylvannia, his cousin, Dr. John (Sonny) Petrali of Churchville, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raphael Esposito, his sisters, Dorothy Bonner, and Anna Mostoller, his daughter, Donna Esposito, and his grandson, Darrel Brescia.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 17-25 Benton Avenue, Walton with the Rev. Michael Flannery and Rev. Edward Golding, celebrating.
