John K. Fox, 88, of Walton passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Fox Hospital Nursing Home in Oneonta, following a short illness.

John was born September 19, 1927 in Hanover, NH the son of the late Calvin and Gladys (Moulton) Fox. He proudly served his country from 1949-1953 in the U. S. Navy, repairing aircraft radios. On May 4, 1957 he married the former Betty Udland in St. Olav's Lutheran Church in Weehawken, New Jersey.

John was a Steeplejack erecting and painting many of the red and white radio towers that you see as you travel along the New York Thruway. He also worked for Bonland Sheet Metal Company of Wayne, New Jersey for 23 years.

John enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, and tending to his vegetable garden.

John is survived by his loving family, his wife, Betty, children, Kenneth Fox of Succasunna, NJ; Michael (Mary) Fox of Branchville, NJ, Debra Martin of Walton, NY; Patricia Fox of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Erik and Lisa Martin of Walton, NY; Stephanie Fox of Hoboken, NJ; Christine Fox of Branchville, NJ; James (Brianna) VanValen of Landing, NJ; Kristin (Jon) Ronnevik of Fergus Falls, MN; Matthew Fox of Lynchburg, VA; and Jason Fox of St. Paul, MN; 6 great grandsons, brother, David (Penny) Fox of Eastford, CT; sister, Jacqueline (Jim) Chamberlain of Johnson City, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Teresa Fox.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1PM with Rev. Dale Ashby, officiating.
