It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Higgins, a beloved son, friend, and community member, who left us on December 9, 2025, at the age of 59. John was born on August 16, 1966, in New York City, before making his home in Hobart, NY, where he lived a life filled with passion and joy.

John was a big-hearted soul known for his love of baseball, especially the New York Yankees. He could often be found cheering for his team, sharing stories of legendary games, and bonding with friends over America's favorite pastime. Alongside his love for sports, John had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, particularly in history. He found joy in learning about the past and sharing his insights with those around him.

John was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Higgins, and Faustina Gomez.

A prayer service will take place on Friday December 19th, 2025 at 4:30pm with Father Golding officiating at the Courtney Funeral Home located at 25 Townsend St. Walton NY 13856. A private burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Bedford, MA.
