John O. "Jack" Howes, 65, a resident of Sidney Center passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

John was born on August 17, 1947 in Walton the only son of the late Marian and Marion (O'Dell) Howes. John was a laborer for RFI in Walton. He had a great work ethic and enjoyed being outdoors working on the land and the life of a farmer. He loved all animals and especially his pet rabbit.

John is survived by his cousins, Charlie and Ginny O'Dell of Walton; The Reynolds family, his housemates, Lewis, Joshua, Brenda, David, Maggie, the staff at the Joshua House, his coworkers at RFI, and several other cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his cousin, Bill O'Dell.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 10 to 11 AM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held at 11 AM with Rev. Janet Schwengber, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery following the service.
