John Hren, 90, of East Branch passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, NY.

John was born on March 20, 1927 in Decatur, NY, the son of the late Leo and Antoinette (Skerl) Hren. He married Je Nann Upchurch in 1957 she predeceased him in 1977.

John was retired from 2 branches of the Military, first in the US Marines where he served in WWII, then the US Army where he served with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked Civil Service at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA. He enjoyed baseball, golf, college basketball, arranging family photos, gardening vegetables and hiking.

John is survived his loving family, his son, Mike Hren of Walton; his grandson, Jeremy Hren of Walton, brother Henry (Jean) Hren of Worcester, NY; sister, Elsie Conte of Westford, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Leo, and Anthony, Hren, sister, Marie Fedor, sister-in-law, Ann Hren, and brother in law, Peter Conte, Sr.

Services will be privately and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
