John W. MacDonald, 72, a longtime resident of Walton passed away Monday morning, surrounded by his family at Delaware Valley Hospital following a short illness.

John was born on September 3, 1938 in the Town of Colchester, the son of the late Clifford and Clara (Smith) MacDonald. John served his country in the US Army stationed in Italy. On July 23, 1960 he married the former Bonnie L. McAdams. Bonnie died on September 8, 2008. John worked at Breakstone's, Walton for many years. Following retirement he was self-employed as a carpenter. John also enjoyed working with wood and stained glass. He lived in the house he built. John loved the outdoors and all it had to offer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and just walking in the woods. He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends at TA's, over a cup of coffee.

John is survived by one daughter: Kim (Mitch) Bartlett of Walton; his grandchildren, Matthew, Corey, Ryan, all of Walton and Wade (Erin) of Berwick of Maine; Brothers & Sisters In Law, Ronald & Dema McAdams, Bill & Dodie McAdams; and Joan Caruso, all of Walton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A graveside service will be held at Walton Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Thursday afternoon, April 28, with the Rev. Jennifer Kimball officiating.
