Obituary

John M. Marsden, 81 of Walton, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, after a long illness.

John was born in Derby, Connecticut, on April 3, 1928, the son of the late Frank and Mildred E. (McKenzie) Marsden. He married the former Mary Ann Shiebler on April 29, 1967 at Rockville Centre, NY. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1950- 56. He was employed for 25 years as a Mechanic, for Pan American Airways, JFK. In 1995 he and Mary moved to Walton from Island Park, Long Island.

John was a member and former commander of the VFW and American Legion, and the K of C. of Oceanside, LI.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, sons, Thomas "Tammy" Marsden; William C. Marsden, Michael M. Marsden, all of Island Park; 2 grand children, Thomas S. Marsden Jr. and Alex Marsden; 1 brother, James Marsden, 2 brother in laws, John J. Manning, Joseph P. Manning, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Philip "Teddy" Marsden.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, April 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Benton Ave., Walton, with the Rev. Matthew H. Frisoni, officiating.
