Obituary

John P. Scriber 65, of Walton passed away Saturday afternoon, December 24, 2016 at O'Connor Hospital of Delhi, following a long struggle with Parkinson's.

John was born on May 9, 1951 in Monticello, NY the son of the late LeRoy B. and Mabel (Gorr) Scriber. He married Rebecca Dixon on January 17, 1970. He was employed for many years by the town Of Newburgh Highway Dept. as a Truck Driver.

John loved machinery of all kinds, whether it was cars, tractors or trucks. He loved car shows, and going to tractor pulls with his son, John. He was a member of the Walton Cruisers, the farmers Museum Tractor Club in Montgomery and the Catskill Antique Tractor Club of Delaware County.

John is survived by his wife, Becky Scriber one son, John L. Scriber of Walton, NY; brothers, Doug and Bonnie Scriber of Grahamsville, NY and LeRoy and Della Marshall of New Paltz, NY; Sister And Brother-in-laws, Nancy and Bobby Dixon of PA; Marjorie and Rich Weintraub of FL; Issy and Jimmy Bird, Newburgh, NY, Della and LeRoy Marshall of New Paltz, NY, Jean Thompson of Plattsburgh, NY; Richard and Iris Dixon of Wallkill, NY; Dan and Adel Dixon of MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by special friends, Collin and Billy Pomeroy, and Billy Rajewski. He was predeceased by a brother, George Marshall, sisters, Tillie Scriber, Jane Callo, in-laws and Ellen Hughes, John and Julia Dixon, Tommy and Sharon Dixon, Percy and Ginny Dixon, and John Dixon.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
