Obituary

John Sojda of Liverpool, NY passed away May 2,2009. He was born at 404 Chemung ST., Syracuse, N.Y.,on Oct. 2, 1920. He was the son of Polish Immigrants, Vincent and Katherine Sojda, who became United States Citizens. He graduated from Blodget High School in Syracuse. Following High School he worked at Crouse-Hinds.

John was very proud of his country and he enlisted in The United States Navy in 1942. He was in the Constuction Battalain during WWII. On Febuary 19, 1944 he married Evelyn Gibbons. After the war John worked for the Syracuse City School district untill he retired.

Surviving John are his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bruce Du Mond of Walton; three grandchildren, Carolyn of Washington, D.C., Michelle of CA, and Cheryl Du Mond of Ithaca :Sigmond Sojda,brother; Alice Sojda and Gert Sojda;Sister-In -laws, of the Syracuse area; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Janet-Lee, in 1989,His wife Evelyn in 2006, and his brothers Chester, Walter, and Stanley Sojda.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:45a.m. Friday,May 8,2009, at Maurer Funeral Home, Moyers Corners, Baldwinsville and 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Liverpool. Burial to Follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will be 5-8 pm Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Mauer Funeral Home, 3541 Rt.31, Baldwinsville.
