John W. Zabriskie, 63, of Trout Creek, passed away Friday afternoon, September 27, 2013 at his farm, surrounded by his family.

John was born on August 18, 1950 in Butler, NJ; the son of the late John B. and Elizabeth (Bedell) Zabriskie. He married the former Sara McCrum on January 3, 1970 in New Jersey.

He was employed for many years by Mirabito Oil Co. and later at Tinklepaugh Oil as a Service Technician. He was a former member of the Vernon Valley Rod & Gun Club.

John was an "Outdoor Man" who loved hunting, fishing and tending to the many chores on his farm. He loved to raise animals on his farm. He enjoyed visiting with friends who often stopped by to visit.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife: Sara, three daughters: Dawn & Dana Jones of Bainbridge; Melanie & Michael O'Mara of Otego; Shannon & Brent Baroody of Florence, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Amanda, Shane, Ashley, Seth, Savannah and Adam; three sisters, Carol Kolakowski of Franklin, NJ, Geneva Mann of West Milford, NJ, Georgeann Zabriskie of Paupack, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his sister, Vera Schilling.

In keeping with John's wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
