Obituary

Josephine C. Stephens, 80 of Walton, passed away Saturday evening, August 27, 2005 in the home of her daughter Deborah in Chittenango, NY., after a long illness.

Mrs. Stephens was born in Colesville, NY, the daughter of the late Raleigh and Wanda Dewitt Carson. She married Kermit Stephens on September 6, 1947. He died on July 20, 1996. She was a loving and caring daughter, wife, and mother who always took good care of her family.

When her children were young she was a cubscout den mother, and a girl scout troop leader. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church, Walton serving for many years as a lay leader, and singing in the choir.

She is survived by two daughters: Donna Pinney and her husband Bill, of Unadilla; Deborah Wright and her husband Mike of Chittenango; NY, one son: Dale Stephens and his wife Susan of Walton; a daughter-in-law, Mary Eggelton, of Walton; 10 grandchildren, Alisa and Rob Hathaway, Stephanie and Chris Wheeler, Dereck Stephens, Lorinda and Tom Edwards, Anthony and Jessica Stephens, Rebecca Stephens, Danny Stephens, Angela Wright, Dale James Stephens, and Kimberly Wright; 8 great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Katelyn, Courtney, Tanner, Jayson, Noah, Scarlet, and Kylie, a sister, Sharon Van Campen, of Ovid, her Aunt Grace Morley of Sidney, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Dudley Stephens on March 14, 1984, 2 brothers, Raleigh Carson Jr., and Joseph Carson.

Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday August 30, 2005 from 6 to 9 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton, NY.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Walton, with the Rev. Mark Del Giudice, officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
