Joyce Cable McIntyre, 87, died June 11, 2005 in Teresian House, Albany, NY. She was born on January 14, 1918 in Downsville, NY to Sarah and James Chandler Cable. She graduated from Downsville Central School and from Albany Business College. Joyce worked as a bookkeeper for her father's lumber business, and then as Business Manager for Williams Motor Co., Walton. She was married to Wilbert P. Mcintyre of Walton from 1941 to 1978.
Joyce was very active in the community. She served as Matron, Past Matron and Secretary of the Order of Eastern Star, Willowemoc Chapter. She was President of the Walton Business and Professional Women's Club, and a member of the Walton Grange. She served as Treasurer of the First United Methodist Church of Walton, and was a member of the Downsville Alumni Association. She joined the Southern Arizona Hiking Club in Tucson. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed knitting, traveling, and cross-country skiing. Most of all she enjoyed square dancing and for many years belonged to the Western Squares.
Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Gadwood Dobmeier of Walton and a brother, Robert S. Cable, Downsville. She leaves three children: Dennis McIntyre (Susan) of Stamford, CT; John McIntyre (Julia) of San Francisco, CA; and Linda Hines (Thomas) of Albany, NY. In addition she leaves four grandchildren, Erin and Ryan McIntyre and Patrick and Kevin Hines; a great-grandson, Tyler Hines; and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Merlin, of Roxbury.
Calling hours at Clark, Winter, & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton will be Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 10 a. m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a. m. with internment in Paige Cemetery, Downsville.
