IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith A.
Moore
August 2, 1942 – March 7, 2012
Judith Allcock Moore was born August 2, 1942 in Orange, NJ to Irene Cooper Allcock and Charles Edgeton Allcock Jr. and died March 7, 2012 in Walton NY. She attended Kent Place High School for Girls, Smith College, Class of 1964, and attended Columbia University Graduate School for Library Science.
Judie lived a spirited life. She enjoyed music, swimming, and gardening. She even enjoyed "straightening up." There was always something to do, and Judie was always doing something. Her life was rich with friends, family, and a host of careers.
It is difficult to change careers; it takes courage and a certain acceptance of the unknown. Judie embraced the challenge and reinvented herself many times. As a young mother to Cheney C. Brand and Keith C. Brand on the outskirts of New York City, she was a chef, a librarian, and an educator (teacher training at Threefold Eurythmy School). In the middle of her life she entered the corporate world working for Volvo of North America. She learned about cars and finance. Toward the end of her life she knit together a fabric of hobbies, friends, family, and jobs, including employment recruiter at Delaware Valley Hospital, and director of the William B. Ogden Library, into a full and rewarding life in Walton, NY. She married Richard Joseph Moore on August 6th, 2006.
Throughout her many careers, Judie maintained a consistent and beautiful focus on family. She was an absolutely wonderful, creative and loving mother. And though it was not always easy, Judie always brought people together. And when she was with the people she loved, she could, sometimes, enjoy a glass of wine and a sunset without the doing of things. She had that ability, too.
Judie approached the end of her life with the same courage. Her challenge was to pass gracefully and with love both to and from the people she loved. She overcame fear, and with the incredible support of her husband, Mick Moore, she spent three nights of the final week of her life laughing with family all around her bed, drinking champagne, and sharing togetherness; and each of those nights ended with a new found strength of Judie's, the strength to tell people that she needed to rest.
It was Judie's wish that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Avenue, Oneonta, New York 13820.
We'd like to thank the community for all your support during this time. Please join us to Celebrate Judie's life Saturday March 10th between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, 100 North Street Walton, NY.
