Laura Lynn Gilbert-Sprague, 46, of Walton passed away on Thursday evening, June 16, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital of Rochester, following a long illness.

Laura was born on August 14, 1969 in Walton, the daughter of Albert E. and Nancy (Hull) Gilbert. She was a graduate of Walton Central School, class of 1987 and SUNY Delhi in 2000, majoring in english. On May 26, 2001 she married David T. Sprague in Walton.

Laura loved animals and she and Layla often went to Heart of the Catskills Humane Society to walk and help with the animals there. She also had a passion for writing, composing poems and short stories. She was of the Methodist faith.

Laura is survived by her loving family and friends, her husband, David, her kids, Nicholas Gilbert, and Layla Sprague both of Walton; mother, Nancy Gilbert and Don McClenon, Walton; brother, Aaron and Sally Gilbert, Coos Bay, OR; aunt, Wendy Hull, brothers and sisters-in-law, Doreen Sprague and Bob Dunphy, Downsville; Timothy Sprague and Tawny Myers, Downsville; Kathleen and Harold Gardner, Downsville; special friends, April Gilbert, Jessica Combs, Kellie Adamson, Jennifer Tompkins, and Hazel "Jane" Bartlett; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Laura was predeceased by father, Albert, her brother in law, Brucie Sprague and mother and father in law, Jean and Bruce Sprague.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM at the New Hope Community church, where a memorial service will be held at 4 PM wth Pastor Larry Light, officiating.
