LaVerna L. Murphy, 78, of Walton passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich following a long illness.

LaVerna was born on August 20, 1935 in Shavertown, the daughter of the late Archie and Nora (Loveless) Titch.

LaVerna was a Purchasing Clerk at Breakstone's for over 38 years. She enjoyed playing cards, backgammon, and ping pong. She was a member of the Pinochle Club on Mondays.

LaVerna is survived by her loving family, her children, Donald Covey and Albert and Cindy Covey of both of York, Pennsylvania; James Covey of Norwich; her grandchildren, Daymen Covey, Tierra Covey, Dana, Raymond, and Samantha Covey her great grandchildren, Jordan, Colt, Sonya, and Owen, her sister, Edith Liddle of Hamden; her special friend and former husband, Ray Murphy of Walton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Dale Covey, shortly following birth, her brothers, Floyd and Ralph Titch.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, March 13, 2013 from 1 to 3 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held at 3 PM with Pastor Lonnie Skiles officiating. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery in the spring.
