Lois F. Phoenix, 89, a lifelong resident of Tompkins and Walton, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Delaware Valley Hospital, following a short illness.
Lois was born on August 24, 1933, in Cannonsville, the daughter of the late Fred and Edna (Sawdy) Mayo. She was a graduate of Deposit High School, class of 1950. On August 17,1974 she married Austin Phoenix. He predeceased her on December 17, 1996. They owned and worked a farm on Lower Loomis Brook Rd. Later she worked for Chris' Flowers, Walton. She attended Northfield Community Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, taking care of her plants, going for Sunday rides, and making Rice Krispie Treats which all her grandchildren loved.
Lois is survived by her loving family, her children, sons, Michael (Lyn) Beers of Florida, Kevin (Laurin) Beers of North Carolina, daughter, Sandra (John) McClenon of Trout Creek; and son in-law, Floyd Allen of Sidney Center, grandchildren, Karrie, Jonathan, Erin (Brett), Justin (Tanya), Brandin (Amy), Michelle (Mark), Kelly (Dan), Scott, Wayne (Dawn), Daryl (Morgan), Lanie (Keith), Shawn; great grandchildren, Austin, Shaelie, Neah, Tristen, Tucker, Karlee, Arriana, Anthony, Natalie, Camden, Emerson, Emeiry, Jacob, Ryan, Paige, Morgan, Dillon, Kennedy, Ava, Gabe, Griffin, Hannah, Daniel, Caleb, Elijah, Melanie, Liam, Noah, Kaylee, Julia, Tyler, Parker, Mckenna, Tre, James, Phoebe, Dalton and Jewel. Also, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Allen, granddaughter, Lori Calkins, great grandsons, twins, Matthew and Issac, brothers; Norman (Helen) Mayo, Clinton (Martha) Mayo, sisters; Valerie (Marzie) Daugherty, Edna (Frank) Walley, and Lillian (Morris) Hornbeck.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11AM at the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Pastor Randy Palada, officiating.
Memorial contributions in Lois's memory may be made to Northfield Community Church, 5118 Co Hwy 23, Walton, NY, or Walton EMS, 61 West Street, Walton, NY.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
