Obituary

Loretta J. Palmquist, 96 of Walton passed away Thursday morning, December 21, 2006, at home following a short illness.

Mrs. Palmquist was born in Galilee, Pennsylvania on November 29, 1910, the daughter of the late James and Josephine Koberlein Layton. On November 25, 1939 she married Harry Palmquist. He died in March 1985. She grew up in Rock Rift. She was a school teacher all over the area in one room schools, and finally at Walton Central School after the consolidation. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mrs. Palmquist is survived by her daughter, Marta Weinstein and her husband, Berthold of Livermore, California; 2 grand daughters, Elizabeth Weinstein, and Karen Avery; 3 great grand children, Joshua, Matthew, and Sandra Avery, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, David and Harold Layton, 2 sisters, Hazel and Dorothy Layton.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 11AM to 1 PM where services will be held at 1:00 pm in the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.

Burial will be in Walton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Palmquist's memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
