Lorraine J. Norton, 61, of the town of Colchester, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY

Lorraine was born on March 21, 1947 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel and Helen Dubiel Amato. On June 24, 1985 she married James Norton at Colchester. Lorraine worked as a waitress for many years at BJ's Diner in Downsville. She was a member of the Downsville Women's Club, the Downsville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, serving as past president, and the Holy Family Parish, Downsville. Lorraine enjoyed cooking and crafts.

Lorraine is survived by her husband Jim, one sister, Helene Giampaolo of Long Island, one brother, Charles Amato of North Carolina, niece, Corinne Darcy; nephew, Anthony Giampaolo; Great niece and nephews, Kelly Darcy, Matthew Tyler, Daniel Giampaolo; her best friend, Rachel LaRusso; and special caregiver, Julie Murphy.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Church of the Holy Family , Downsville, with the Rev Christopher Welch, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, Walton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Holy Family, Downsville.
