Lurenz
October 21, 1926 – January 9, 2019
Louis P. Lurenz (Bunk) 92, of Walton, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his home in Walton, surrounded by family.
Louis was born October 21, 1926 the son of the late Louis and Minnie (Perry) Lurenz. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On April 25, 1948 he married the former Lillian Cash at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. She died on April 20, 2017.
Louis was a manufacturing supervisor for Scintilla (Amphnol) starting in 1949 until he retired Jan. 1983. He was an assessor for the town Walton for many years. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Tobey C. Truman Post # 32, Mead Ellis Post # 270 VFW, both of Walton. For many years he also participated with the Honors Team Firing Squad that provided funeral military honors for former members. Louis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, watching WCS football, mowing his lawn, and his cars. He was an avid golfer his entire life; getting a hole in one at age 77. For several years he was a Marshall at the B. C. Open at En-Joie golf course.
Louis survived by his daughters, Lori (Mike) Babcock of Walton; Lisa (Paul) Favret of Walton; grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Ryan, and many special friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Lurenz.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning, January 17, 2019, at 11 AM with the Rev. Edward J. Golding, officiating. Burial will be on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Walton Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
