Louis A. Pratti, 74, of Walton, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 after a brief illness at Countryside Care Center in Delhi.
Born November 4, 1934 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Amalio and Rose Pratti. He was a long time resident of Walton. Louis' passion was working with wood as a cabinetmaker and he enjoyed this trade throughout his life. He also operated Pratti's Market , a small grocery store and deli with his wife for 15 years. He especially enjoyed restoring antiques, as well as working with the Religious Awards Program for Catholic Scouts for 25 years, and offering a local "Dear Santa" letter program for 34 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Helen Pratti. He was the devoted father of Rose (Steve) Pratti of Mechanicville and Mario (Ginger)Pratti of Massena; loving grandfather to Robbie Tabone of Mechanicville and Amalia Pratti of Massena. He is survived by 2 siblings, Anne Pratti and Mary Garafolo of Brooklyn and he is predeceased by his brother Paul Pratti. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara of Yulan, several nephews, nieces, aunts and cousins as well as his dear friend Bill Wood of Walton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton. Interment will follow at Walton Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Louis' memory to Mercy First-Angel Guardian Campus, 6301 12th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11219.
