Louis Weglarz, 85, a resident of the town of Tompkins, formerly of Hillsdale, New Jersey, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2011 at home, surrounded by his family.

Louis was born on June 25, 1926 in Saddle Brook Township, New Jersey, the son of the late John and Nellie (Sudol) Weglarz. On September 25, 1948 he married the former Helen Scheideler at Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. He served in the New Jersey National Guard. Louis owned and operated the Wayside Fence Company in Fairlawn for many years.

Louis was a member of the Club Royale Oasis, B.P.O.E. of Edgewood, FL, and was a former assistant troop leader of the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, playing golf, snowmobiling, bowling, and taking care of his yard.

Louis is survived by his belovd family, his wife, Helen, his children, Laura (Alan) Hayes, Swickley, PA; Robyn (Audri) Bazlen-Weglarz, Providencetown, MA; John (Ellen) Weglarz, Hillsdale, NJ; grandchildren, Logan, Spencer, Katie, Meredith, Mickey, Tim, Dan, Andy, Joe, John, Tom, Theresa, and Eddie, brother, Edward (Sabina) Weglarz, Middletown, NJ; a sister, Laura Sheara, Little Silver, NJ; brothers and sisters in law, Andy (Eleanor) Scheideler, Ridgefield Park, NJ; Claire (Frank) Caricari, Indian Land, SC; daughter in law, Mary Weglarz, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Passiatore and brothers in law; Vincent and Frank Sheara.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Our Lady Of Victory Roman Catholic Church, 150 Harriot Ave., Harrington, NJ; with the Rev. Brian Adamczyk, officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
