Louis S. Wood, 82,a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away Monday evening, May 10, 2010 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown, following a long illness.

Louis was born on March 28, 1928 in Walton, the son of the late Reeves and Wanda (Allen) Wood. On January 1, 1953 he married the former Stacia Hitt. Louis was self employed on the Wood family farm. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed riding his Kawasaki Mule.

Louis is survived by his beloved wife, Stacia, 2 daughters, Sally (Garry) Gladstone, Shirley (Roger) Hoyt, 1 son, Ronald (Carolyn) Wood, all of Walton, 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Dewayne) Johnson, Kyle (Kelly) Wood, Jessica (Chad) Mott, Brett Gladstone, Robert Martin, Stephanie (Phil) Zandt, 7 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Josh, Garrett, Logan, Lucas, Hailey, 1 brother, Robert Wood, Delhi, 2 sisters, Mary Hinman, Windsor; Ann (Bill) Sulger, Walton, special nephew, William Sulger, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his trusty friend, Riley. He was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Marjorie and Megan Gladstone, and a son-in-law, Robert Martin.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A graveside service will follow calling hours at 2:00 PM on Friday, at the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Ave., Walton, NY with Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays, officiating.
