Mrs. Manuela T. "Emma" Echevarria, 97, formerly of Bennett Hollow, Walton, passed away early Thursday morning, July 15, 2010 at Roscoe Nursing Home following a long illness.

She was born on November 9, 1912 in Santander, Spain, the daughter of the late Agapito and Victoria SanEmeterio Trancho.

On September 8, 1940 she married Manuel Echevarria in Brooklyn, he passed away on February 28, 1975.

Mrs. Echevarria was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Walton.

Besides her husband, Emma was predeceased by her sons: Manuel and James in 1961; her brothers: Ruben Trancho, Vincent Cardoza & Joseph Trancho; her sisters: Madeline Gomez, Gloria Mira and Carmen Serrano.

She was survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Church, 17-25 Benton Ave., Walton, with the Rev. Dennis Murphy celebrating. Family and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the Mass at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.
