Margaret A. Barriger, 95, of Walton passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 22, 1923 in Walton, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Katus Watson.

Margaret worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Rock Royal Creamery in Walton. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist in Walton. Margaret greatly enjoyed working in her garden, reading, fishing and was a wonderful cook. Her signature dish was her homemade carrot cake which everyone would look forward to. She was a kind hearted women who will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years Donald Barriger of Walton whom she married April 12, 1955 and sister Diane Klein (Charlie) of Binghamton. Margaret is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Radeker and her brothers Joseph Watson and Stephen Watson, Jr.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 A.M. at St. John the Baptist, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton with the Rev. Edward J. Golding officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest in Walton Cemetery.
