Margaret W. DuMond, 93, a lifelong resident of Walton passed away Thursday evening, April 25, 2013 at Otsego Manor, following a long illness.

Margaret was born on September 20, 1919 in Walton, the daughter of the late Ely and Margaret (Laing) Wright. She married Basil DuMond on September 24, 1941 in Walton. She attended Delhi Ag & Tech. She was employed early as a dental assistant for Dr. Crawford DuMond. She raised a family and worked on the family farm on MacGibbon Hollow with Basil. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Walton and the United Methodist Women. She also taught Sunday School at the Walton United Presbyterian Church.

Margaret loved drives in the country, picnics,games, traveling, gardening, and preparing memorable meals for family and friends.

Margaret is survived by one daughter; Louise and John Whittleton of Cortland; one son, Bruce and Linda DuMond of Walton; grandchildren, Carolyn DuMond, Michelle DuMond, Cheryl DuMond, Janice Whittleton, Sarah and David Santisi, and Erik and Lianna Whittleton; great-grandchildren, Logan, Kyle, and Kaitlyn Santisi; brother Edward and Glenora Wright of Nampa, Idaho; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret was predeceased by husband Basil brothers Wilbur and Richard Wright, and a sister, Helen Cranston.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit on Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 PM at the Walton United Methodist Church where services will be held at 2 PM with the Rev. Mark Del Giudice and Rev. Frank Denton, Margaret's nephew, officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
