Margaret M. "Peg" Shields, 94, of Walton a devout Roman Catholic passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Albany following a short illness. She lived in her own home until February 2017.
Peg was born on September 13, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ the daughter of the late David and Anne (McCarthy) Breslin. She grew up in Washington Heights then moved to Walton when she was 16 years old. On November 13, 1943 she married Clifton (Kip) Shields in Waco, Texas. He died on June 13, 1994.
Peg was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, Walton where she served on the Altar Rosary Society and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Walton. Peg and Kip owned and operated the Stockton Ave. Market for 15 years. She entered African Violets at the Delaware County Fair and won several ribbons.
Peg is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Ann Shields of Albany, Susan Dundon of Colonie, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Patrick and Charles Breslin, her son in law, Donald Dundon, as well as her good friend, Lil Lurenz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 11 AM at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton with the Rev. Edward Golding, officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions in Peg's memory may be made to Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Walton or the American Legion Auxiliary in Walton.
