IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marguerite
Elliott
May 11, 1921 – November 5, 2007
Marguerite Elliott, 86 of Delhi, passed away on Monday evening, November 5, 2007, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born the second of fourteen children in Beemerville, NJ on May 11, 1921, the daughter of the late Harris and Pauline Kinney Elliott.
Prior to her stay at the Countryside Care Center, Marguerite resided with the Fryer Family in Deposit and attended the Maple Leaf Program in Corbett for many years. She was a talented and enthusiastic needlewoman and crafter who was always eager to learn new techniques. In addition to her arts and craft projects, Marguerite was especially helpful with the Maple Leaf yearly sale. Not only did she make many items, she was their top salesperson. Maple Leaf staff and participants host this sale each December in order to raise money to support needy families during the holidays.
Marguerite cared very much about her family and wrote to them regularly. She also took a special interest in the families of her friends and the Maple Leaf staff. Despite failing health in her later years, Marguerite was a strong willed and caring person who remained active and interested in the world around her. She will be sorely missed by everyone who was privileged to know her.
Marguerite is survived by her sisters, Gladys Freer of Texas, Betty Herman of Israel, Mazie Elliott of New Jersey, Eleanor Miller of North Carolina, and brothers, Ellsworth Elliott and Lester Elliott of New York, as well as by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by a special niece, Linda Carter of Texas, who was instrumental in supporting and caring for Marguerite during a difficult time in her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Chester Elliott.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, November 8, 2007, from 1 to 2 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 2 PM with the Rev. Thomas Ballard, officiating.
