Marie A. Shelton, 68, a lifelong resident of Trout Creek, passed away on Monday afternoon, October 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Toni surrounded by her family.

Marie was born on February 1, 1943 in Walton the daughter of the late James and Velma (Kilpatrick) Alger. On August 25, 1982 she married Carl E. Shelton in Bainbridge. He predeceased her on December 31, 1997.

Marie was employed for many years in Bainbridge at Borden's as a Machine Operator where she was a Union Representative of I AM #1529. Next to her grandkids and family Marie loved sheep. She raised many over the the years and did not hesitate to bring into the house one that needed special attention. She also loved helping her grandkids with their 4-H projects at the Delaware County Fair. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling in Bainbridge, word search, books, monopoly, cards and dominoes.

Marie is survived by her loving family, her children, Toni Shelton of Trout Creek; Bruce (Lori) Shelton of Franklin; Pat (Ron) Fletcher of Trout Creek; Robin (Michael) Gray of Walton; Craig (Kim) Shelton of Walton; Tracie Rubera of Walton; her grandchildren, Shad, Shiri, Matthew, Blake Daniel, Aaron, Ayrica, Turner, Travis, Ryan, Shasta, Jeffrey (Amy), Savannah, Michelle, Skylar, Jessica, Nicole, Morgan, Ashley, Troy, Shelby, Dystinee, her great grandchildren, Jamie Lyn, Carl, Jali, Brent, Logan, Graci, Jeffrey Jr.,Brooke (Parker), Alexis, Shaun, Julianna, Adan, Jordan, Colt, Blair, Tyler, her sisters, Alberta "Aunt Bert" Hornbeck of Trout Creek; Lois Knapp of Otego; Vera Stewart of Oneonta; her brother, William Fairchild of Brazil, India; her brother in laws, John Boice of Sidney Center; Steve Shelton of Trout Creek; her sister in laws, Kathy Layton of Trout Creek; Sharon Gifford of Masonville; her special friend and cousin, Mary Ellen Budine of Walton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marie was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Boice, Father And Mother In Law, C. Luther & Dorothy M. Shelton, her brother in laws, James Hornbeck, Thomas Gifford, her nephew, Duane Gifford, and her best friend, Mary Ramsey.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will be held at 1 PM with the Rev. Judy Travis, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery.
