Marilyn Core 73, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at home.

Marilyn was born on September 20, 1938 in Mineola, NY; the daughter of the late Alfred and Laura Ann (Aarkland) Gorman. She was a graduate of SUNY Delhi. On June 29, 1958 she married Richard F. Core at West Hempstead, New York. He died on July 2, 2007.

She was a founding member of HEART (Humane Education & Animal Rescue Team) a member of Del-Ots-Nango Kennel Club, Oneonta, and attended the Walton First Baptist Church. Marilyn was also an artist who enjoyed creating acrylic paintings of folk art and landscapes.

She is survived by two sons: Lawrence (Beth) Core and Tom (Wendy) Core both of Walton; a brother: James (Cathy) Gorman of Levittown, NY; 3 Grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth And Stephen Core; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and her special friend, Bill Mincarelli; and her pets, Max, Abbie and Probie.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
