Marion V. Schloss Pomeroy, 87, of Walton, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua following a short illness.

Marion was born on March 27, 1924 and grew up in Walton, NY. She is the daughter of the late Horace and Ellen (Smith) Schloss.

On October 7, 1962 she married Albert C. Pomeroy at Brewerton, NY. He died on April 7, 2006.

Marion was a hairdresser in Brewerton for 25 years before moving back to Walton. She was very active in the Brewerton United Methodist Church as well as the United Presbyterian Church in Walton where she helped organize the Annual Harvest Dinner. She was a former member of the local Bird Club and the Delaware Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Marion enjoyed her home, gardening, visiting with her family and friends,and a good game of pinochle.

Marion is survived by her loving family: her children, Dorothea (Stephen) Ladd of Skaneateles, NY; Tina (Peter) Blackwood of Canandaigua, NY; Kim Pomeroy of Solvay, NY; her step children, Robert (Edna) Pomeroy of Sidney Center, NY; Janet (David) Darling, Sr., Knightdale, NC, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Marge Kite of Walton, special niece and nephew, Joann and Glen Pomeroy, many other nieces, nephews, and cousins and the many others she has touched over the years. Marion was predeceased by two sisters, June and Jean Welton.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 10 AM to 12 noon at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East St., Walton, where services will be held at 12 noon with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton cemetery.
