Obituary

Marthena H. Signor, 90, of Walton went to be with the lord on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton. God put her here on earth for 90 years to help do his good work. He has now called upon her to rejoin him in heaven.

Marthena was born on October 31, 1922 in Sidney, the daughter of the late Leland and Leah (Constable) Howe. On April 23, 1943 she married Richard Signor, a beloved, devoted marriage of over 71 years.

Marthena was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church in Walton, joining the congregation in 1945. Marthena spent her Saturdays as free time with her family and Sunday she dedicated to the church and her faith. Marthena was a member on several boards at the First Congregational Church throughout the years. Often, she would help in the churches kitchen and at one point she had taught Sunday school at the church.

Marthena worked for many years at Helen's Beauty Shop, and then worked from home, starting her own shop in Walton. Marthena enjoyed gardening, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She also spent much of her time baking cookies and cakes, or making jams in the kitchen. Additionally, she was member of the Home Bureau. She took great pleasure in knitting and crocheting. Marthena loved to take every opportunity she had to watch her grandchildren. Her affectionate personality touched all of her family and friends. Marthena was truly a women dedicated to her family.

Marthena is survived by her loving family, her husband, Richard Signor, her children, Gordon (Lois) Signor, Janice (Tony) Abbott, daughter-in -law, Sharon Signor, her grandchildren, Shirley and Ron McLaughlin, Sheila Scott, Daniel Signor and Gaye LaCasce, Todd and Tracey Race, Rick and Christine Race, Dalena and Tom Lamont, Heather and Fred Briggeman, her brothers, Robert and Mary Howe, Donald and Phyillis Howe, her sister, Violetta and Richard Stevens, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Lee Signor, her brothers, Raymond and Jim, and her sister, Leona.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, July 26 at First Congregational Church, 4 Mead St., Walton.
